MAME
Mame is defined onstage by theater and screen icon Angela Lansbury, who played the role on Broadway in the 1966 original musical and won one of her raft of Tonys. Onscreen, Lucille Ball brought a flighty sensibility to Mame in a 1974 film version of the Jerry Herman classic.
With husky voice, fetching figure and careful steps, Twin Cities actor Kevin Hansen is delivering a Mame who wakes theatrical ghosts. Hansen has gleefully stepped into the pumps of the Bohemian auntie who meets misfortune with grace and indefatigability.

In the height of the roaring 20's, ten-year-old Patrick is sent to live with his larger-than-life Auntie Mame, where he's exposed to her wealthy friends and free-wheeling lifestyle. Is it weird that all the photos I've found online from other productions portray Dwight Babcock as a bald/balding older gentleman? Perhaps it's time to shave the head...?
So far, my favorite lyric is: "Well shut my mouth and freeze my face".

Mealtime Hero
Submitted by Brent on Sat, 04/03/2010 - 3:26pmAbout a month ago I was approached to do this completely wonderful project for Byerly's. It was a 'spontaneous musical' that took place inthe store on April Fools day. A group of seven of us were planted thru out the store and all broke out into song. It was wild! So much fun. Along the way, I snapped a few photos of our process. Check them out below and then finally check out the video and also the story that KARE 11 news did on the event.

Our "crafts service table" during our 1st in-store over night rehearsal.
The contents of my rehearsal cart. Ironically, none of this stuff made it into my actual cart on the day of the shoot. I wasn't able to get a shot of my "real" cart but it did have ketchup. Thought you should know.
After we finished we scattered through out the store and I walked over to the frozen foods in the back of the store to "shop"... I opened a freezer door and a ZILLION frozen foods fell out and onto the floor.... Way to blend in, Brent! Way... to.... blend.... in.... HA! :)
100% great fun and I am so blessed to have been involved.
